The wonderful world of computing.

Here is my current project

Before the operation                                                         After the Operation (humm)

Well it took two hours of good hard work to make the mess on the right.  Let me tell you, I was really thinking it would have cleaner lines when I was done. Haha. Oh well it runs cool and fast. 20 Feb 02, I just added a hard drive for a backup device.  80 gigs Maxtor.  It is a slower drive, but it is only for backing up all the computers...

So want to know what is inside. This systems is a dream. Turn it on in the morning and shut it down when I am done for the day.  (ok, so once in a while I reboot,  but it is not very often, that is for sure.) I am currently doing my capturing on my P3 machine and all the editing on this machine.

Mother Board       Abit TH7 II raid with Intel 850 chipset (My first Abit board, needed raid, Asus    makes a good P4 board too) ( the latest BIOS and beta Hotpoint drivers for the Raid, work really well with XP) (The Beta Intel Application Accelerator Help the overall performance a lot)
CPU                    P4 1.8 Gigs (best price for speed)
RAM                    (2)256 RIMMs, RDRam  from Samsung  total 512 (works flawlessly)
Hard drives          (Two) Maxtor "J" series 40gigs running in raid 0(working exceptionally fast)
Hard drive            (One)  Maxtor 5400, ATA 100 80 gigs (for backups only, maybe Data )
Video                  ASUS 8200 Ti 500 Deluxe (Still waiting for Capture Drivers) (Still evaluating)
Sound                 Creative labs Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum (this is a great setup worth every penny)
CDR/DVD             Ricoh MP9120(great drive never had any problems) (looking for a DVR drive)
NIC                     10/100 Found in closet (generic no name) (it works just fine)
Floppy                 3 1/2 Found over in the Pile (generic no name) (it works)
Fans                   5-two 120mm (intake) and three 60mm (exhaust) (wired thru a speed control) (necessary improvement for the components I am running, and the speed control brought the sound level of the wind tunnel down to a comfortable noise level, the decrease in air flow amounted to very little change in temperature at idle or at 100% utilization, probable because of the great job done by the guys a "Coolerguys" who modified the case.)
    Operating System    XP pro

Well I will include Pictures of my network soon. I am thinking of including networking for the home pages, on how to set up and maintain it.  OH yeah and a trouble shooting Microsoft for networks Client page too.  It is not hard to do, just frustrating when it will not show a connection even thought it is connected.  There are ways to force the network to respond even though you can not see it.
        Network       100BASE-T,100-Mbps Ethernet
        Router          Linksys Befrs81
Print server    Ethernet Print server from MPS
        Cable Modem  Toshiba PCX1100U
